Our Purpose
Mindful Choices for ADHD is a nonpartisan association working to ensure that individuals living with ADHD have access to evidence-based, appropriate, and equitable treatment. We focus on fostering consensus, countering misinformation, and advancing practical solutions grounded in science and lived experience.

Our Steering Committee guides our strategic direction and ensures that our work reflects the diverse perspectives of those impacted by ADHD.

Dr. James Anderson is a Board-Certified Pediatrician with 28 years of experience whose practice specializes solely in caring for pediatric, adolescent, and young adult behavioral and mental health conditions from a primary care perspective. He cares for patients aged 4 years through young adulthood with his focus in the management ADHD, anxiety, depression, and autism. He has a special interest in the application of pharmacogenomic testing as personalized objective data in the decision-making process in the determination of psychotropic medication management.
Dr. Anderson was born in St. Louis, MO and completed his undergraduate BA in Chemistry at Baylor University in Waco, TX. He completed medical school with Honors, pediatric residency, and chief residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. He spent 23 years in High Point/Greensboro, NC as part of Cornerstone Health Care/Wake Forest Health Network where he was actively involved the growth and management at corporate level and worked with media spending over 16 years on live TV. He was an adjunct professor at the University of North Carolina Pediatric Department teaching pediatric residents and at High Point University teaching physician assistant students.
Dr. Anderson moved to Austin, TX to become part of Austin Regional Clinic, a large independent multispecialty physician group with over 32 locations throughout the Austin area five years ago. He is responsible for developing the behavioral medicine department for the organization. Dr. Anderson enjoys meeting and learning from other health care providers discussing the clinical management of mental health conditions in children, adolescents, and young adults.

Jeff Copper, cognitive engineer and ADHD coach, is founder of DIG Coaching Practice and host of Attention Talk Radio and Attention Talk Video. He developed Cognitive Ergonomics From the Inside Out™, a new paradigm and a new ADHD intervention that takes an engineering approach to identify accommodations for those with executive function impairments.
Jeff holds an MBA from University of Tampa, professional designations from ICF and PAAC, and certifications from ADD Coach Academy (ADDCA) and Coaches Training Institute (CTI). He is a member of Attention Deficit Disorder Association (ADDA), ADHD Coaches Organization (ACO), Children and Adults with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (CHADD), Professional Association for ADHD Coaches (PAAC), and International Coach Federation (ICF).
He received the 2022 Professional Excellence Award by the ADHD Coaches Organization. His work continues to innovate and redefine ADHD coaching.

Stephen Faraone is a Distinguished Professor in the Psychiatry and Neuroscience & Physiology departments at the Norton College of Medicine at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York. He is also Senior Scientific Advisor to the Research Program in Pediatric Psychopharmacology at the Massachusetts General Hospital and a lecturer at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Faraone is also Program Director for the educational websites www.adhdinadults.com and www.ADHDevidence.org and President of the World Federation for ADHD.
Dr. Faraone’s research focuses on the nature and causes of mental disorders in childhood, with ongoing studies in psychiatric genetics and psychopharmacology, currently emphasizing machine learning approaches. He has been ranked as a highly cited researcher in the top 0.01% of scientists across all fields. In 2025 ScholarGPS listed him as the #1 scholar for ADHD worldwide and in 2024 ExpertScape named him the top-rated expert in ADHD and Disruptive Behavior Disorders worldwide.
He was also ranked the 80th best scientist in the world, and 57th best in the United States in 2023, by Research.com. He is a recipient of numerous awards including the Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Society of Psychiatric Genetics and the Paul Hoch Award from the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology.

Dr. Dawn Garzon is a certified pediatric primary care and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner in child and adolescent psychiatry at Washington University in St. Louis. A thought leader and passionate clinician, she brings decades of experience to passionate advocacy for accessible, evidence-based care that meets individual goals and helps children reach their maximum potential and happiness.

David W. Goodman, M.D., is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. and Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the State University of New York, Norton College of Medicine. He is also the Director of the Adult Attention Deficit Disorder Center of Maryland in Lutherville and the Director of Suburban Psychiatric Associates, LLC.
An internationally recognized expert, he has presented over 750 lectures to medical specialists, authored peer-reviewed scientific papers, conducted clinical research on several of the ADHD medications now on the market, serves as a consultant to the NFL and the World Anti-Doping Agency, is widely quoted in national media, has served as expert witness, and teaches psychiatric residents at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and State University of New York Upstate. Dr. Goodman was on the American Professional Society for ADHD and Related Disorders Steering Committee for the development and publication of the first U.S. Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Treatment of ADHD in Adults.

Jessica Lewis is a professional voiceover artist, high-performance leadership coach, photographer, entrepreneur, and passionate ADHD advocate. Born and raised in Meadville, Pennsylvania, she discovered her love for storytelling early through photography and later earned a BA in Broadcasting and Media from Cedarville University, launching her career in radio before touring internationally with the Canadian band downhere. After returning home to raise her family, Jessica built a successful photography and boutique packaging business before transitioning into voiceover work. Today, her voice can be heard worldwide in campaigns for major brands including DIOR, Stryker, PNC Bank, Ocean Spray, and Mondelez International.
Jessica’s most meaningful work, however, is rooted in her lived experience as an ADHD mom. Navigating ADHD within her own family inspired her to use her voice, platform, and coaching to support other parents raising children with ADHD and to bring greater awareness, compassion, and practical strategies to the conversation. Through her coaching, speaking, and creative work, she empowers ADHD parents to lead with confidence, reduce shame, and help their children thrive. She is also a recognized Pexels Hero photographer, with her calming nature images reaching more than 725 million views worldwide, reflecting her commitment to helping others find clarity, beauty, and calm in everyday life. Jessica lives in northwest Pennsylvania with her husband Dave, where they tag-team the adventure of raising three children and navigate ADHD with teamwork, humor, and a deep commitment to helping their family thrive.

Dr. Potenziano joined Tris in 2023 and is responsible for leading medical affairs. He has over 25 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries. Jim brings an extensive background in life cycle management across multiple disciplines, most notably in pain, neurological disorders, oncology, cardiovascular medicine and critical care neonatology. He has led or significantly participated in the development and launch of nine new drugs and devices, with four of these becoming multibillion-dollar products, and has been instrumental in the filing of 120+ patents worldwide.
Prior to joining Tris, he was Chief Operating Officer / Interim President at Proterris, Inc. where he led clinical development programs and IP strategy. Earlier in his career, Jim held various medical and scientific affairs leadership positions at Mallinckrodt / Icaria, Inc. and Reliant / GSK Pharmaceuticals. Jim earned his Ph.D. from The State University of New York (SUNY), Binghamton and holds a post-doctoral fellowship from the National Institutes of Health.

Debbie Witchey began her tenure as the President and CEO of the Association for
Behavioral Health and Wellness (ABHW) in 2024. ABHW member companies provide
coverage to 200 million people in both the public and private sectors to treat mental health,
substance use disorders, and other behaviors that impact health and wellness.
Previously, Debbie served for more than 20 years as the executive vice president & chief
operating officer of the Healthcare Leadership Council (HLC), an alliance of leading health
industry CEOs representing all sectors of health care. As HLC’s chief government affairs
officer, she led multiple coalitions that successfully advocated for the passage of the
Medicare prescription drug benefit, the CARES Act, and other health care legislation. She
also built an award-winning community health program for a hospital system in
Charleston, SC, and served as deputy assistant secretary and assistant secretary for
management (acting) at the US Treasury Department in both a Republican and Democrat
administration.
Debbie has a master’s in health administration from the Medical University of South
Carolina and a bachelor’s degree in public policy from Duke University. She serves on the
board of a women’s service organization in McLean, VA. She is also a member of the
Women Business Leaders of the US Health Care Industry Foundation and the URAC Health
Standards Committee. In addition, she fosters dogs for Lab Rescue
